In functional neurosurgery, modern imaging technologies are used to precisely calculate and transfer targeted interventions in the brain with stereotactic devices. In-depth diagnostics are of paramount importance and form the basis of all further therapies and measures. Minimally invasive surgical procedures allow very complex treatments and interventions to be performed on the human brain. They are often the last option for symptom relief for patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, tremor, or dystonia. Arkana Forum’s Functional Neurosurgery Academy offers courses in basic and advanced functional neurosurgery on a three-year cycle. The hybrid course format allows for both face-to-face and online participation. In a total of four course days, you will learn all the necessary and latest methods of functional neurosurgery. In the first year, we start with basics on the first day and advanced methods on the second day. Each year the basics are repeated, and the advanced methods are presented in a three-year cycle consisting of: I DBS - including MER, II Lesioning (RF, Laser, Hifu) and III Epilepsy – including sEEG The content of all courses is supplemented with suitable imaging procedures and the corresponding pathology. Once you have registered for the full course, you can attend all the basic courses free of charge and only need to register for the advanced part of the course. All times in the program refer to the CET time zone!
